End of an era.....

Today is the end of an era and the start of something else. I am having my last coaching session with Philly from the Money Gym today. Yesterday I did a sheet of all I have achieved since I started the course and coaching with the MG. I now have 6 pages of actions I have taken, results I have had and what is to come.

How much have you done in the last year?

How money works

In case you don't know, I have spent a year on a financial coaching course with the Money Gym.

I have learned so much and am now beginning to put it into action. I am a nurse by profession - I am not a financial whizz-kid with a family who have given me lots of money or an easy ride. I have had a job since I was 13 and have always spent what I earned, except for the very sensible thing of buying a property in 1996 which made me £120,000 in 11 years.

So, what is happening now?

I am still spending more than I earn, as I gave up my day job in September, but I have spent the time investing in my business, my financial education and personal development and looking at how my money can work better for me, and then for those who will benefit from it through the business and charitable funds.

My happynurses business is at this stage:

• I am nearly ready to launch the website, which is fully automated and will run itself with some tech help and written input from me regularly.
• The membership fees are only £7.99 a month and could have global membership immediately as it's a web-based business.
• Imagine - 200 members at £7.99 a month is £1598 - about the same as my part-time nursing post
• I will also be helping and inspiring 200 nurses a month which is the most exciting thing
• There are e-products available to buy and download - no extra cost how ever many sales I make
• There will be some lovely happynurses merchandise which Caroline is designing and looks wonderful. This part of the site is also automated and run by another provider for a monthly fee from me.
• I am making some income from 1:1 coaching
• I am starting monthly coaching and pamper days for nurses - helping others and making me money as well
• I get paid for writing articles which helps to publicise the business as well as establishing my expertise
• I have started some joint ventures with a therapist and my personal trainer, and we have done some cross-referrals
• In any deal I do I now negotiate and also look at how I can get more than my investment back
• I am starting to invest some of my equity in property thus making my property profit work harder and providing another income or investment stream in 5 years.
• I was asked to go on BBC breakfast this week, but declined as it was not a subject I felt I knew enough about. However it shows my networking and contact building is paying off!

What a wonderful programme! last night's Secret Millionaire with Gill Fielding was amazing.

The links between our past, present and future are always there, but the ability to change our present and futures lies with US.

I thought the whole idea was great, and as Gill has links with The Money Gym it made great viewing. I was surprised about some of her financial decisions though, but it was lovely to see people who were very 'giving' actually getting something back.

The other thing that struck me was that Gill, and the others all had something they felt passionate about and believed in deeply, but some did it on a shoestring. Imagine supporting 70 single-parent families for £5000 - amazing!

marketing and dreams

I have been dreaming quite vividly recently and trying to work out what some of them mean. I did a wonderful teleclass last night with Damien Senn, Steve Nobel and David De Angelis about 'Flow'.

Last night I dreamed I met Jack Canfield. I often have celebrity meeting dreams - usually Robbie W, but also Annie Lennox, Oasis, Blur and others. It's the first time I have 'met' a personal development maestro in my dreams.......

I have also worked out how to organise my time and tasks so that I have a list of what I need to do, but at the same time complete flexibility over what I actually do with my day. Yesterday I got the urge to write and edited my next 2 e-books......one minute it was 11.00, then it was 13.45 and I was starving!

How could you organise your lives to do more of what you really feel like doing, when you really feel like doing it, happynurses?

Endings and beginnings

I am fresh back from London and the final Money Gym seminar. It was a wonderful, empowering, fun, informative and loving space to be in.

It was wonderful to see how far all the clients had come in a relatively short time - with amazing schemes and a much greater understanding of how money works and what type of money-making plan would suit each woman.

They were all different.

Some are up for the Internet and e-products (me and Alison), others in property (Poppy), with a growing portfolio, and an interest in stocks and shares was established this week (Poppy, Frankie and Alison). Yvette has found out that she has enough equity to take a lot of time off and just help me with happynurses publishing and marketing!!

Marcus De Maria taught us brilliantly and showed us methods of making money by using different ways of reading the stock market and taking more informed action. We then had a very lively discussion about whether Take That advertising M&S would make them a good investment or not. Ah, money - it's not all stressful and boring!

OOOhhh, Take That are on the radio - hmmm synchronicity again!

How could you make more money, happynurses?

New life

So Claire, I hear you ask, how's it all going?

Here is an update -

1. Power walking and energy - still walking regularly (see demo, left, on how to look gorgeous while walking!) and feeling more toned and love being outside in the park.

2. Alcohol - easy to stay off now I have decided. I only wanted one drink once in Cornwall, and otherwise I don't really need it at all, or think about, or miss it! Amazing! My mind is so much freer now.

3. I have 4 shifts to go before I leave work and am really looking forward to moving my life on and up a gear.

4. Facebook is great - I have linked with groups of buddies from nursing, coaching and drama worlds as well as friends I have made travelling - it is brill!

5. Loooooove - had a couple of dates, really nice guy, cute and stylish, but no real spark so I continue to focus on who and what will fit into my future lifestyle. Going to places where intelligent, motivated men will be, and I am doing a relationship seminar to sort out some 'issues', learn and laugh about looooove (and have a salsa party with a load of other people on the course.....)

6. Money - I have started on the property investment route, and have had the idea to produce  and market my e-book for my niche group. I am outsourcing the 'one page sales letter' and the formatting and editing of the text, then I can advertise it to the 400,000 nurses I can reach right now in the UK and US. With a 1% sign-up I could make £120,000....as well as getting links to the membership site and a database for the happynurses site.

7. I am a creative genius!! ha ha ha! This is because there is somewhere for all my ideas to go, and people who can do the less exciting, technical, editing bits for me.......how cool is that?

8. I have a great tax adviser who I meet regularly. He fills me with confidence and is helping me to organise the business/ money/ tax issues for happynurses.

9. I am part of an amazing network of people who are encouraging, teaching, helping, entertaining, supporting and loving me and it feels truly wonderful.

10. The opportunities are really opening up - for money, love, speaking and teaching, writing, travel, making and re-establishing friendships.

Fear

This is my sis, Sarah, sailing on the Camel Estuary in Cornwall. She had a couple of sailing lessons last week, and admitted that she was scared before the first one - the weather was quite windy, and she hadn't sailed for a while.

I told her I thought it was normal to feel scared, and vital to do things that scare you on a regular basis. The exhilaration that comes from doing something challenging/ new/ terrifying is amazing! I am certainly scared about doing the Happynurses thing, but really really thrilled and excited too!

Lots of my work colleagues have told me that I am 'brave'. What does that mean? I challenge myself on a regular basis, because anything less really is a 'life half lived'. I could stay where I am and have 20 years of the same thing, but I have the chance to do something really amazing with my life, instead of what everyone else does. This feels like the right way for me to live, but will not be the same for everyone. It depends what your values are.

However, if you feel bored, stuck, stressed, lonely, angry or unhappy with nothing to look forward to except 'more of the same' - get yourself a good coach and start to learn what would really make your heart light up with excitement.....

I'm interested in hearing from coaches who have taken on board the principles of the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad . Have your opinions on money changed since reading the book?

It was a revelation to me, as I never understood how people made lots of money, and how investing, compounding and business really worked.

It led to me declaring my intention to become a millionaire, then taking action to make it happen.

I know I needed an expert or two, as well as accountability, so got on the Money Gym wealth coaching course. It cost me nearly £6000, but I have already learned how to leverage my assets to make me a million in 10 years...... Claire

Wow! A million in 10 years. I guess you're not counting on a big lottery win ;-) I'm SOOOOOO impressed that you can do it. All I know about money is if you stick it in the bank account, you get a rubbish interest rate, so you're better off spending it! Only kidding. Well, about the spending it bit. I'm completely clueless about how to invest money and don't really know anything else apart from the savings account at the bank. People talk about investing in property or shares, but I can't see how ordinary people stand a chance when property prices are so high and share prices are hard to keep on top of, aren't they??

You are right - I don't have to win the lottery, I have spent time learning about how money works and how to make my own money go further.

Your message was full of limiting beliefs (!) and if you get your financial info from the papers then STOP!

The world has enough money that we can all have a million, but we need to know how to attract it, how to invest it and how to keep doing it so that we can create real financial freedom.

There are 4 main rules for achieving anything I have found. Use the STAR system (invented by me!)

Situation - what is happening now, where are you as regards your money? What do you know and understand?
Target - what do you want instead? be specific and formulate an exciting goal - a million is good!
Action - do something, find experts, hire a coach, read books, learn, learn and then go, go GO! Invest some money in accelerating your learning.
Reflection - what worked? what was fun? What did you learn?

Keep going with what worked, and change what didn't but stop believing that it is too hard or complicated.

Nurses' pay

I was reading the Nursing Standard this week, about the idea of asking premiership footballers to give a day's salary to a 'hardship fund' for nurses.

There has been a variety of responses to this plan. I think it is an interesting one, and highlights the discrepancy in pay between men who make money kicking a ball around, and those of us who save lives, but it doesn't solve the pay issue.

Who will decide who gets the money? What is 'hardship'? Are nurses really so poorly paid that we have to receive charity?

The most empowering thing you can do is to learn how to use your money better - more investing, fewer nights out - and look at 21st century ways to make more. David Beckham doesn't make all his money playing footie, nor do lots of his colleagues.

How could you make passive income?

If you don't understand the question, you need to find out!
